On 20 May 2011, Namibia joined the international community in commemorating the World Metrology Day. The World Metrology Day is commemorated on 20 May every year to raise awareness about the importance of accurate, reliable and internationally accepted measurements in everyday life.
The theme for this year is “Measurements and the Global Energy Challenge” and is coordinated through the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of Namibia responsible for the establishment of a national measurement traceability system through maintenance of national measurement standards and dissemination of the traceability by providing calibration services to industry.
