Stakeholder Workshop on the Research and Development and Innovation Surveys
09 Jul 2015
The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) would like to extend an invitation to research institutes, public and private institutions of higher learning, business enterprises, as well as any organisation/institutions/offices/ministries or agencies (MOAs) conducting research and experimental development or innovation activities - to participate at this important workshop which will take place on 17 July 2014, at Nampower Convention Centre, Windhoek.
The NCRST is mandated, through the National Programme for Research, Science, Technology and Innovation to conduct a National Research and Development (R&D) Survey, as well as a National Innovation Survey to establish core Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Indicators, as part of the process leading to the publication on a regular basis of the National reports on STI statistics/indicators. STI core indicators handle components such as active human capital involvement in Research & Development (R&D), time dedicated to R&D activities and the budget or investment for scientific research activities, and the innovation component to effectively inform Research, Science, Technology and Innovation (RSTI) development in the country.
It is on this note that the NCRST is organizing a stakeholder training workshop, to impart skills to support the national implementation of sustainable and coordinated data gathering methodologies to develop and use STI indicators, to create awareness among stakeholders on the importance of STI indicators and related evidence-based policy for a knowledge-based economy.
