The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) hosted a two-day Youth Innovator’s Presentation Forum in Windhoek, from 27 to 28 August 2015. The purpose of the Forum is to provide opportunities for Namibian Youth Innovators, aged 19 to 35 to present their innovative proposals, which were previously submitted through an open call. The proposals had to be related to Information and Communication Technology as well as Manufacturing Technologies, and must have the potential to make remarkable national social and economic impact.
The Forum which was held under the theme: Supporting the transformation of Youth Ideas into Action, made use of experts in the fields of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), and Manufacturing to judge entries on their merits of being cutting edge, innovative and creative; comprehensive, relevant and justifiable; and their ability to generate new knowledge or products that are able to contribute to the industrialization of Namibia.
“The NCRST as the competent authority responsible for coordination and development of Research, Science, Technology and Innovation in Namibia, has provided this opportunity to interested Youth Innovators affiliated to recognized youth institutions/organizations to submit and present innovation project proposals to the NCRST for funding. The idea is that potential entrepreneurs and innovators pitch their ideas in order to secure investment finance in front of a panel of judges. This is indeed a unique and exciting way that the NCRST is pushing the boundaries of innovation and development in Namibia. We wish all participants success with their proposals”, said Dr Eino Mvula, CEO of the NCRST.
