Job Grading: Paterson B1

Primary Purpose of the Position:
To prepare all payment requisitions for all cash suppliers, payment of allowances and performs petty cash reconciliations.The incumbent will further be accountable for the maintenance of all cash payments records.
Key Performance Areas:
  • Receive, capture, allocate and process invoices accurately.
  • See to it that relevant supporting documents are submitted before payment is done.
  • Process cheques and EFTs once approval for payment has been obtained and forward these to authorized signatories for payment to suppliers.
  • Ensure timely payments of invoices and allowances.
  • Investigate any discrepancies and initiate verifications.
  • Perform petty cash reconciliation on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile inventories from the store on a regular basis
  • Conduct back-ups of computerized information
  • Maintain all filing regarding cash payments.
  • Handle all correspondence regarding cash payments.
  • Update cash vendors/ records as required.
  • Verify and report on stock received and stock at hand.
Minimum Qualification, Experience & Competence Requirement:
  • A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Accounting and at least two (2) years relevant experience.
  • Proficient working experience of the Pastel Accounting System.
  • Basic bookkeeping and administration skills.
  • High level of integrity and a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be organised, a self-starter, proactive with good analytical skills.
Employment Conditions:
This is a permanent appointment with a performance agreement.
