The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) is a State-Owned enterprise established under Research, Science and Technology (RST), 2004 (Act, no 23 of 2004) The NCRST is tasked to coordinate, develop and promote Research, Science, Technology and Innovation in Namibia. As part of its mandate, since 2014, the NCRST has been supporting Namibia’s 5th National Development Plan (NDP-5) to ensure financial inclusion for women in MSME, especially in agri-business, blue economy and extractive industries, and ensure that women, who form over 60% of the informal sector, are integrated into the formal economy and receive targeted interventions. The NCRST with partners have so far implemented FembioBiz/ National Innovation Challenge (NICW) Season I, II, and III Programme to support women entrepreneurs. The NICW Programme 2020 will be implemented in collaboration with GIZ with support from the German government.
NCRST, GIZ and partners are looking for ambitious women leaders in various related businesses to take part in the National Innovation Challenge for Women (NICW). This programme is designed for women who want to grow their business through an acceleration program that will allow them to gain exposure and access to international markets through various series of training and pitching. Participants who takes part in this programme stand a chance to win developmental prize vouchers, get mentorship, incubation and enjoy additional opportunities in and outside of the continent.
